How Analyze was Used
“Grayscale indices were determined for water and air by analyzing histograms of a volume-of-interest containing only these substances; the setting for water and air was 0 Hounsfield units (HU) and −1,000 HU, respectively. Semi-automated segmentation was carried out via Analyze 12 (AnalyzeDirect, Inc., Overland Park, KS, USA) using a threshold method generated lung densitometric data. Mean lung density and total lung volume were quantified within a defined volume-of-interest covering the lung, while excluding the heart and major blood vessels, as delineated on µCT images.”
