How Analyze was Used
“Quantification of the dental hard tissue was performed with Analyze 14.0 software (Biomedical Imaging Resource; Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN, USA). A low pass filter with a 3 × 3 × 3 kernel was applied to reduce noise and images were threshold to separate the different mineralized tissue (dentin and enamel). After segmentations, the tissue density was quantified within the Region of Interest (ROI). To convert CT intensity, in Hounsfield unit, of the mineralized tissue into mineral density, a set of phantoms, calibrated in mg of hydroxyapatite per cm3, was used.”
