How Analyze was Used
“Abdominal adipose tissue was measured using a 16-slice CT scanner (Toshiba Aquilion 16, Model #TSX-101A; Toshiba America Medical Systems, Tustin, CA)….The cross-sectional areas of VAT [visceral adipose tissue] were quantified on each slice using software-derived algorithms (Analyze, version 6.0 …). SAT [subcutaneous adipose tissue] was calculated from each slice as previously described [Carroll et al. 2008]. From the combined measurements of the eight slices, total abdominal VAT and SAT masses were calculated according to previously published methods [Smith et al. 2001].”
