How Analyze was Used
“Image signal intensities were normalized by a three-point correction curve using two phantoms and background noise, and the whole body volume was segmented and calculated using the region-growing tool in Analyze software (AnalyzeDirect, Overland Park KS). Adipose tissue was segmented from lean tissue using a fixed intensity threshold derived from the average threshold of all datasets, as reported by the Otsu method and confirmed by visual inspection. The percent adipose tissue volume was calculated as a ratio of voxels segmented as adipose tissue divided by the total body voxels.”
